If you are a paranormal investigator in or around the metro Washington D.C. area and you have not investigated Gabriel’s Inn, then you have really missed out on something special. If you follow my column or my investigative teams (Bridges2Beyond and G.H.O.S.T.) then you know why we are so fond of this location.
What made Gabriel’s Inn a great place to investigate? To begin with the place is surrounded with all the history and physical properties that you could possibly hope for at a site of reported paranormal activity. Simply put, it was hard to go to Gabriel’s Inn for an investigation and not walk out with some kind of evidence.
From the time it was settled as a working quarry through the Civil War, its life as a Women’s Asylum, as a fine French restaurant the people and spirits of Gabriel’s Inn provided many of us with opportunities to explore, investigate and document the paranormal in ways few other places have.
Gabriel’s Inn will soon be closing its doors, changing owners and business plans. I cannot speak as to the future of paranormal events at this location as I have not met the new owners nor do I know what their plans are for Gabriel’s. I can only hope there may be an opportunity to go back there at some point in the future to continue our research there.
This however, is not the end of the story for Gabriel’s Inn. There is still much to be told from the archives of evidence which has been collected by the many dozens of paranormal teams from throughout Maryland, D.C., Virginia and Pennsylvania who have investigated there. If you have stories and evidence that you are willing to share, then please leave me your email address below or by write to me at Bridges2Beyond@gmail.com or G.H.O.S.T.Enterprises@gmail.com with your details and I will contact you directly
In the meantime, I would encourage all of you in the paranormal community to do what you can to support your favorite haunted locations. They can only keep their doors open to us as long as we help them keep their doors open to business. Fact is, we have collected more evidence from Gabriel’s Inn then you will find on any of the popular Cable TV shows or by the teams who investigate on those shows. While Gabriel’s Inn may not be widely known as being a paranormal hotbed, there is no doubt in this columnist’s mind that it should have been!
So let me take a moment to thank Sean and Shirl DeLawder for granting us the opportunity to investigate and participate in many, many fine events with wonderful food in the company of our paranormal counterparts from around the metro area. And special thanks to Carol LaRiviere for all her efforts in planning, scheduling, coordinating and conducting all the investigations and events there.
