One of the subjects I will be covering in my upcoming book Texas Confidential is chupacabras. When Jerry Ayer announced to a local television station that he had the body of an unidentified, doglike creature at his Blanco Taxidermy School, he says…

Aurora UFO Incident

Don't want to clutter up this site with material peripheral to ghosthunting but did want to mention my recent visit to Aurora, Texas, where I was doing some research on a local legend that claims there was a UFO crash near the town -- in 1897! This was all for a chapter on my current book project, "Texas Confidential: Sex, Scandal, Murder, and Mayhem in the Lone Star State."

I have posted a couple of pictures on my TravelBlogue, http://varhola.blogspot.comContinue

Psi-fi Para-Radio Interview (January 27)

Had a terrific chat Wednesday night with Donna and Sharon at Psi-fi Para-Radio at their new, more listener-friendly time. It's amazing how quickly 90 minutes flies by on their show and how much ground we cover every time! And ever since I got off the phone with them, I keep thinking of things I had planned to mention but did not have the chance to.

Subjects we covered this time included the strange and wonderful world of the south Texas Hill Country; the 2012 prophecies and the other mi… Continue

Gamers Help Haiti

My own small publishing company, Skirmisher Publishing LLC, is supporting the efforts to provide relief in Haiti described in the following announcement. I have not seen much along these lines from the ghosthunting community and figured I would take the initative on this. There are, in any event, few places with a richer paranormal history than Haiti!

Online retailer DriveThruRPG has announced a major incentive to the roleplaying gamer community in order to solicit donations to aid in re… Continue

Happy Holidays, etc.

Just want to wish all my friends in the paranormal/ghosthunting community happy holidays and my hopes for a great New Year! This year has been busy, productive, rewarding, and sometimes tough, and I am both looking forward to 2010 being better in every way and to working and interacting with many of you again.

Hello there! Your book contains all kinds of fascinating history and gives me the kind of depth of knowlege that I have long been seeking. I have a special interest in Garrett County. I will need a new car to travel to the places mentioned in the book.
